Bachata is a form of music and dance that originated in the countryside and rural marginal neighborhoods of Dominican Republic, but is now fast gaining in popularity around the world. The music is sentimental and sensual as its subjects are often romantic; especially prevalent are tales of heartbreak and unrequired love.

Bachata, the dance, is characterised by its close, intimate hold and smooth, flowing moves accented by a naughty hip movement. It is both a sensual and romantic yet fun dance that is simple to learn and enjoy.
